About The Village

Thornage Common – Grassland Management

A large part of the Common has been left uncut this year to encourage biodiversity. Paths have been left round the edge and in through the middle for villagers to enjoy, and anecdotal evidence suggests that indeed it has been. Some wildflowers have been allowed to grow on and there have been plenty of butterflies sighted.

It is the first year that this approach has been adopted and this is just the start of a long-term project to improve the plight of Flora and Fauna in our Parish. The Parish Council hopes that you have had the opportunity to enjoy the Common and with work continuing to establish a walk from Thornage Hall across the meadows to the Common it will become an increasingly enjoyable experience.

All Saints Church

Life at Thornage All Saints continues to centre on building community in the village and ensuring that the church is valued as a village asset.

The monthly 3 T’s events and coffee mornings are proving popular and with some new faces appearing at these events as well as at the monthly church service on the 4th Sunday of every month. The Church has started to experiment with a periodic pop-up bar and a concert in early October. An agreement has been made with Lord Hastings and land for the church car park has been secured.
